The following topics are covered within this course:

Year 1:

Topic 5: The Water Cycle and Water Insecurity.

Topic 6: The Carbon Cycle and Energy Security.

Topic 3: Globalisation.

Topic 4: Shaping Places- Regenerating Places.

NEA- Non-Examined Assessment (Coursework).

Year 2:

Topic 7: Superpowers.

Topic 8: Migration, Identity and Sovereignty.

Topic 1: Tectonic processes and Hazards.

Topic 2: Coastal Landscapes and Change.

Paper 3 Skills

Throughout the two years, you will complete four days of fieldwork, comprising of a residential to Wales, and trips to Hyde Park and Battersea.

We have three examinations and one piece of coursework (NEA).

Paper 1 (Physical) and Paper 2 (Human) are worth 30% of your grade each, and Paper 3 and the NEA are worth 20% each. Paper 3 is a synoptic paper, combining multiple topics to focus on a theme and problem-solving paper.

In class, you will be tested using examination questions and regular multiple-choice quizzes.

Geography has a very respected international reputation as a subject where knowledge of other people’s contexts and cultures and skills, such as problem solving are valued. Many previous Geography students go on to study Law, Economics, Natural Sciences, Medicine, Banking and, of course, Geography itself. Geographers are amongst the most desired graduates in the workforce.
