Each year students from St. Dominic’s secure several places at Oxford and Cambridge universities in a wide variety of subjects ranging from Medical Engineering, Economics, History of Art and Law.

We are proud to announce our most recent successes:

How Do We Support our Students?

We encourage all of our students to join the ‘Excellence Programme’. This is a programme designed to support our students as they seek to apply for the most competitive universities and develops their oracy and independent study skills.

The Excellence Programme meets every Tuesday evening and are linked together in small study groups linked to their chosen subject. Together they work through complex mathematical or scientific problems, or discuss difficult legal or ethical issues. The students spend time discussing interview questions and preparing for admissions test.

We ultilise Microsoft Teams where many opportunities are shared and students are actively encouraged to attend masterclasses and enrichment activities designed to help them as they develop a love for their subject.

We hold alumni events where ex-students come and share their experiences of studying at Oxford and Cambridge as well as running trips to both Oxford and Cambridge so that students are able to meet admissions tutors and learn about the application process.

All students who apply to Oxbridge will have a mock interview with an experienced interviewer who has, at their disposal, a plethora of real questions that have been asked in the past for most subjects (gleaned from interviews with past students). For the very best candidates this will be a panel interview similar to a real Oxbridge interview.
