Post-18 options: UCAS and Apprenticeships

At St. Dominic’s, our students are given guidance on the variety of different options available to them post 18.

Many of our students choose to go onto university and are given guidance about how to navigate the UCAS process through the tutorial system. They are encouraged to research their options about which university and course would suit them and to go on visits to universities. Our annual HE and Careers Fair gives all of our students the opportunity to meet representatives from different universities and to learn about the courses on offer.

Students are also given the opportunity to learn about the apprenticeships which are on offer nationally and in the local area. There are regular careers talks when apprenticeship providers come in to speak to our students about the application process and we have an annual presentation from ASK apprenticeships (Apprenticeship Support and Knowledge). Students are supported through the application and interview process and encouraged to have a careers interview to discuss their choices.
