On Wednesday 15th April 2026, the St Dominic’s Sixth Form College Men’s 1st Football team played their final match against Capital City College with one win required to be league champions.
The game started very evenly, with both teams having even possession. But it was Capital City who struck early on with the first goal to take the lead. Less than 5 minutes later, St Dominic’s foufght back with some tenacious work on the right wing by Anthony Corsini with a great interception and run and cross for Regan Barry to open his account, making it 1-1. A couple of minutes later, Capital City took the lead again with the wind helping them with the ball evading the reach of St Dominic’s goalkeeper Alex Bellis, which allowed for a ‘tap in’ goal to give Capital City College the lead again. The score now at 2-1 in favour of Capital City College, re-ignited the belief and fire in the St Dominic’s boys and again another incredible run from Anthony, lead to another goal for Regan Barry making it 2-2 with the half time whistle sounding.
Following an inspirational team talk at half-time from Captain, Blake Harrison, instilled the belief back into his chargers. The support at this stage from several St Dominic’s students from The Hill was greatly needed and it showed. The St Dominic’s boys were battling hard and both teams had chances to take the lead with no luck. With ten minutes remaining and a few players pulling up with cramp after a long season, their heart and passion shone through, leading to an attack down the right led by Anthony Corsini who cut in and unleashed a thunderous strike that evaded the keeper and scored, sending both the players and supporters to erupt with excitement making it 3-2 with 8 minutes remaining and those illusive three points in sight to win the league.
But it didn’t end there with several attacks from Capital City that lead to some courageous defending from Hamza Namani who didn’t let the fact that he was one of the smallest on the pitch deter his determination to ensure his team were victorious!
A heart in mouth moment with less that two minutes remaining followed when a lofted ball went over the top and one of the Capital City College boys was ‘one on one’ with the St Dominic’s goalkeeper but fortunately Alex came out of the box, intercepted the ball and launched it back up the field to find Micheal Roberts who took the ball down the right hand side, into the box where he cut it inside on his left foot and rifled the ball into the goal, cementing this win for St Dominic’s and ending the game with a 4 – 2 win and Champions of the AOC League for 2026! Man of the Match was Anthony Corsini for his two assists and one goal.
Congratulations to all the team for their hard work and forbearance this year – a superb effort and a superb result.

In their final match of the season, after sealing the League title before Easter, the team were keen to finish the season in style. Our target was set; score100 points… Well… St Dominic’s won 125-45 against opponents New City College, Havering. An absolutely dominant performance, a game for the ages for St Dominic’s at both ends of the floor. The highest scorer was #6, captain Jaden Cumberbatch (50 points) – his highest ever points score .
This is the culmination since we came together in September of hard work, before College practice, grit and a desire to push the standards and we are all really proud. Our first Basketball team in many years to win a league title.
