The BTEC Business students stepped out of the classroom and into an Escape Room and they rose to the challenge!
Working against the clock, they solved puzzles, cracked codes and communicated under pressure. Teamwork, leadership and quick decision-making were put to the test and the students thrived. More than just fun, the experience directly supported their coursework. They were able to link real-life problem-solving and teamwork to key business units, bringing their assignments to life. A fast-paced, high-energy day that proved business skills are best learned by doing.
Students commented:
“This trip was a whole external day team building activity where we were put into teams to find clues, solve puzzles, crack codes, and complete tasks within one hour. This enabled us to ‘escape’ from a themed locked room”.
“The escape room experience was to help foster collaboration, improve our communication, and enhance our problem-solving skills”.
“During the tasks we used and built upon skills such as team working, leadership, communication, and time pressured problem solving”.
“Personally, I enjoyed the different ways we were engaged with one another and our thinking. It encouraged us to use diverse thinking and interpersonal skills but in a fun way”.
“I can speak on behalf of the entire class when I say that the experience was a great opportunity to bring us closer together that we all valued”.
