Physics Visit to CERN, Switzerland
We had the privilege of taking 44 wonderful Year 1 Physics students to CERN last week. At CERN students were able to interact with the equipment in the Science Gateway, which taught them a lot about particle Physics. During the guided tour students had a presentation delivered to them about the Large Hadron Collider’s (LHC) groundbreaking experiments, which include ALICE, ATLAS, CMS, etc.
Other highlights of our trip included a boat ride on Lake Geneva, the Mont Salève cable car ride across the French border, a Thai lunch with all students and staff and finally ending with a tour of the United Nations building, where students got to listen in on a conference delivered by the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk.
The experience of both students and staff will prove to be unforgettable and everyone involved had a fantastic time. I would like to extend my gratitude to the staff who supported me on this trip: Eden Gan, Craig McDonagh, Faheema Rahman, and our Principal Andrew Parkin.
