Visit to St Doms from CEO of British Airways

Visit from Alex Cruz of British Airways

The College was delighted to welcome Mr Alex Cruz, CEO of British Airways for a presentation on his career and the organisation he leads on Tuesday October 31st.

Speaking to almost 300 students from years 1 and 2, Mr Cruz gave an engaging and inspirational talk about his own professional journey and career which has culminated him heading-up British Airways, a globally recognised and multi-billion pound company.  After his talk he took a broad range of questions from students which included topics relating to Brexit, Runway 3 at Heathrow, noise pollution and the impact aircraft have on the environment, the attributes of a CEO and who decides on routes and places BA fly to.  The audience were most appreciative and gave Mr Cruz a rapturous round of applause at the end of his presentation.

He then joined a number of students for lunch who are considering careers in the airline industry.

First Year student, Ali Reyazat commented:

‘Listening to Alex Cruz's ideas created an acute sense of inspiration amongst us as we dug deep in the proud history of British aviation. Cruz's deep-rooted sense of passion towards his field of profession was apparent through the profoundly articulated responses he would give to the most technical questions. His humble tone also coated his words with sincerity. It was a pleasure listening to and attending the speech.’
