Sports Update - March 2023

St Dom's Bulls Basketball Team Cruise to Comfortable Victory over Shooters Hill

St Dom's Bulls travelled to south London to play Shooters Hill at basketball. Fresh from their victory over Harrow College, the Bulls were confident heading into the match. The first quarter posed a cagey affair, with the teams tied at 8-8. However, this proved a momentary blip, as the St Doms Bulls went on to dominate the match scoring 15 more points in the second quarter, 16 in the third and 13 in the last quarter to win the match 52-38. This elevated the team to second in the AoC League.

Next up for the team is United Colleges Group, who are the current league leaders. The match will be played at St Dominic's on the 8th of March.

Harrow Derby Double Header Produces Mixed Results for St Dom's Football Team

On Wednesday 1st March, St Dom's football team had a double header (two matches in one day) against our local rivals, Harrow College. Despite some of our regular players being unable to play, we were able to field a strong squad of 15 players for this marathon match. St Dom's played strongly in the first match, coming out as 3-0 winners, with two goals from Matthew Panford and another from Samuel Lampejo. The second match proved more challenging, made all the more so with a missed penalty. However, St Dom's were denied another penalty, which could have led to our victory. The second match was tied 0-0. Coach Mahdi has nominated Jordan Renner-Thomas as man of the match. Well done, Jordan!

Up next, we have another double header against Croydon College, who currently sit top of the table, so this will prove a challenging match.

St Dom's Badminton Team Show Massive Improvement Against Divisional Champions

The badminton season ended with an intense and exciting meet against Hills Road. It ended really close with Hills Road winning it 6-4. This was a vast improvement compared to our previous meet against them which was 9-1. Everyone was playing incredibly today with great passion. We're all immensely proud of each other and we have come a long way both individually and as a team from the start of the year. We'd like to thank Dan for being such a great coach to us and for always being there for us; we couldn't have done it without him.

Although we didn't end this season with a win, we can look back and be more than satisfied with ourselves in what was our first season in this league. Onto the next season we go.
