Ash Wednesday

“Your Father who sees all that is done in secret will reward you”
Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18
On the morning of 22nd February, the St Dominic's family came together in the Chapel to attend Mass for Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of Lent. The Mass was solemn, moving, and a real reminder of our human mortality as we received the blessed ashes on our foreheads.
Bishop John Sherrington’s thought-provoking homily on the importance of observing Lent and the idea of ‘fasting’ from our mobile phones and technological devices really resonated with many of the staff and students. Lent is a season where we can reflect upon our usual ways of acting and enter a spiritual time of quietness, peace and rest.
The beautiful choral hymn ‘May the Lord Bless You And Keep You’ by Rutter, sung by the St Dominic’s choir as the Mass ended, sounded angelic and touched the hearts of all present.
We would like to thank Bishop John Sherrington for offering the Mass and his continued support and prayers for the St Dominic’s Sixth Form community.
