Advent at St Dominic’s Sixth Form College

At St Dominic’s, we are deep into the Advent season and our celebrations to mark it.  We have a glorious display for this Advent season with all the trimmings!  First to see is the crib at the front gate which greets you as you walk in.  The Holy Family welcoming in the family of St Dominic’s with the classic Christmas scene.

Soon after you reach our beautiful Chapel which has just seen a new lease of life by means of a professional, specialised and thorough cleaning.  Light now travels through the stained-glass windows more pure and clean owing to several years of basic day-to-day grime being wiped away. Particular to note are our stained-glass windows to the right of the chapel where the gold and whites now shine with new brilliance as the sun makes its transit across the campus:

The Chapel also now has situated the classic Advent Wreath at the door and beside the altar which are both looking particularly beautiful this year from the hard work and artistry of Linda. The Christmas tree stands tall off to the side of the altar, set magnificently against the stone artwork behind it:

Out into the main campus again there is another gloriously decked Christmas Tree that stands over staff and students as they pass by, set to the backdrop of our reindeer and snowman on the mount:

How fortunate we are to share such a space, both inside and out, and what a marvellous way, as a College, to welcome the light and warmth of Christ into our hearts as we patiently await his coming on Christmas Day!
