Sports Update

St Dominic's Sports Teams Dominate in the AoC League

During October and November, the St Dominic's sports teams emphatically triumphed in the Association of Colleges (AoC) league.

Badminton

Our Badminton team, fresh from a storming victory in their first match, beat Newham Sixth Form College 10-0 and are top of the league with maximum points. Next up will be Hills Road on the 23rd November, who will prove to be a tough test based on their past successful performances, however we have a strong team and will be aiming for victory!

Football

The Football team travelled to West Thames College in Osterley and triumphed 7-1. This is only the second match the boys have played together and have bounced back well from their narrow defeat in the first league match. Up next is St Charles Sixth Form College, who are currently second in the league, so will be a good test of our newly found form.

Basketball

Our College Basketball Team secured victory over Harrow College by a fantastic 49-16.  An absolutely amazing result and one which the team can be rightly proud of.

Arman Sorour, our Basketball Captain, writes below:

On the 9th of November, St Dominic’s played against Harrow College in a basketball game. St Dominic's played with passion and urgency in order to achieve the win.  At first the game could have gone both ways, but it was only a matter of time before the Dom’s team ploughed through, winning with a wonderful score of 49-16.  We are very proud of our team for practising before and after college and putting in the effort to get us to this point.  We also want to thank Elena for setting this up and allowing us to compete in the AoC league to prove that St Dominic’s isn’t restricted to just being an educational college, but is also able to compete in the sports department.  We also want to thank our coach Kamari who pushed us in training to learn plays and adapt and come together as a team which led us to victory. Furthermore, we are also thankful for our amazing support which created an immense and lively experience for us to thrive in.

Netball

Finally, the netball team travelled to CONEL in Enfield for a storming 36-22 victory. It was a hard fought, physical battle but our team were dominant in each quarter, showing a massive improvement from their first match, where they faced the previous divisional champions. The progress the girls have made over the past month of training has been exponential and we hope the good form can continue for our next match against Uxbridge college on the 2nd November.

Well done to all the competitors and a big thank you to all the staff (Daniel, Craig, Imran, Andrew and Dominic) who have been helping to support the teams!
