Jazz and Rock Café Event

The St Dominic’s inaugural Jazz and Rock Café event took place on Wednesday 9th February.

The Sienna Hall was transformed into a nightclub with guests seated at candlelit tables enjoying wine and canapés. The array of talent and high standard of performance was truly wonderful. I was moved to tears by the heart-breaking duetting of Oliver Castell (keys and voice) and Emily Matloob (voice); moved to dance by the tightly rhythmic jazz and soul numbers lead by Thomas L'Homme Dorado on drums; in awe of the virtuosic electric guitar playing of Anika Maher and impressed by the fully staged version of the duet from The Waitress musical, sung and acted by Oyiyechuku Okolo and Ella Shaul.

There were many other wonderful performances, Grace N'Guessan's stylish ‘Wish I Didn't Miss You'; Kyle Dimaculangan's 'Say something'; Daniel Simao's rendition of ‘The Wall In My Head' accompanied by Marilyn D'Souza on keys, and I have been singing the moving lines from 'Oceans' sung by Jenin Meghjee-Caine and Daniel Simao, ever since, a most fitting tribute to our student Mario.

Please see some images from the event below. We also invite you to view some short flip clips of some of the performances on our Instagram page: @stdominicssixthform
