Catenian Public Speaking Competition - February 2020
The College hosted the Regional Final of the Catenian Public Speaking Competition. After a series of heats Jeea Chadha and Julia Syrek were selected to represent St Dominic's at the Regional Final.
Thirteen other students from local schools and Colleges were represented and the standard of debate was outstanding. The judging panel was chaired by Dame Mary Richardson, a past chair of the English Speaking Union and also included Sean Harriss, the Chief Executive of Harrow Council. Choosing a winner was difficult but we were delighted when Jeea Chadha from St Dominic's was chosen as the winner. Her topic was 'If I ruled the world', and she argued passionately for an end to gender inequality and discrimination - a very powerful talk.
Jeea will now go on to represent the Region in the National Finals which will take place in Manchester in the summer. The pictures show Mr Eddie Gibbons, Catenian Provincial President presenting Jeea with her trophy.
