Visit by Clare Marchant - CEO of UCAS

Visit by Clare Marchant, CEO of UCAS

On Wednesday 6th March 2019 we welcomed Clare Marchant, Chief Executive Officer of UCAS, the University admissions service.  She met with some students, our Careers Leader Anna Scarampi and members of Senior Management.

Clare gave us a summary of her career - after graduating from Hull University, Clare took a training scheme in a large manufacturing company, then moved on to Consultancy work with Deloittes.  Having left Deloittes, Clare went on to have a very senior role in local government, prior to taking on her CEO role at UCAS.

The students asked some excellent questions about how UCAS can help them apply to university and also for apprenticeships.  Clare in turn asked the students questions about how UCAS could improve its service and what are the key factors which determine which university or which path they want to take after St Dominic's.  The key factors were career choice, modules available, flexibility to make changes from one course to a similar one and of course grades.  It was a very enjoyable meeting.
