This vocational qualification gives students a practical understanding of the skills and knowledge needed for Business. Students will develop project management skills and must be able to meet deadlines. They will follow a programme of study that enables progression to higher education and employment within Business.
A broad range of business subjects are covered, including e-commerce, and methods of assessment include assignment and project work, use of IT, case studies, role plays and presentations.

Subject entry requirements:
4 GCSEs at grade C including English or successful completion of the BTEC First Diploma at Merit level
Core Units:
Unit 1: Exploring Business Activity
Unit 2: Investigating Business Resources
Unit 3: Introduction to Marketing
Unit 4: Effective People, Communication and Information
Specialist Units:
To obtain a BTEC National Diploma, you will complete a total of 18 units over 2 years. These will cover a range of subjects from Human Resources, Finance, Marketing, Business Planning to Online Business and Internet Marketing.
This is the equivalent of 3 A Levels.
A student may take part of this course and complete 12 units over 2 years leading to a BTEC National Certificate in Business. This is equivalent to 2 A Levels and would be studied in combination with another subject such as Applied ICT Single Award.
Coursework details:
There are no external examinations. All units are assessed through assignments set throughout the year.
