A Level Latin

Latin Latin is offered only at AS and A Level and to qualify for these courses you need to have GCSE Latin – preferably with grades A or B. The content of the course is more or less the kind of thing that you have studied for GCSE but at a higher level. Students will read works of Latin literature, which are tested through translation into English and through essay work and questions of literary appreciation In addition there is practice in translating unprepared passages in preparation for the “unseen” paper. You will also gain insight into cultural aspects of the Roman world.

Qualifications in Latin are much respected for UCAS applications to most degree courses and, if you enjoy the subject at A level, you could go on to take a degree in Classics, in which you could continue your interests in Latin but also begin ancient Greek.

In covering the Latin course we have close ties with HarrowSchool. Please enquire about these at Open Evening
