A Level History
history The History Syllabus comprises two AS modules to be studied and examined during the first year based on 20th century British History and 19/20th century U.S. History. At A2, students study one module for examination on late 20th century and early 21st century British political history. The second A2 module comprises a Personal Study, where the students write a 3500 word essay based on extensive in-depth research on an historical issue that is placed in the context of 100 years.

 

Exam Board / Specification:  AQA (1041/2041)

 

Subject entry requirements:  In addition to GCSE English Grade C, G SCE History Grade C (or GCSE English Language Grade B if you do not have History GCSE).

Unit 1: Change and Consolidation in History: USA 1890–1945 (HIS1M)

Unit 2:  Historical Issues: Period of Change–A Sixties Social Revolution?

British Society 1959–1975 (HIS2R)

 

A2

Unit 3: The State and the People: Change and Continuity–The Making of Modern Britain 1951–2007 (HIS3M)

Unit 4: Historical Enquiry (H1S4X)–internally assessed and externally moderated coursework

 

Coursework details:

 

Unit 4 is a coursework task and is worth 20% of the total A Level marks.
