This is the course for you if you like art but can't paint or draw!
Have you read the Da Vinci Code? Were you interested in finding the clues in the art works? History of Art is all about that - only much more accurate!
During the course you will have the opportunity to study a wide range of art movements from Ancient Greece to the present day, and we will look at the relationship between the art work and the society of the time. You will learn about styles and meanings – why does the art work look the way it does?
Art & Design obviously compliments this course extremely well as there are overlaps between them. For example, this essay writing course will help your understanding of art works and therefore your annotation in your work journals. Another course that overlaps is Classical Civilsation, but other related courses English and History.
Much of the course involves classroom teaching and includes looking at works, researching them and making presentations in a group. Although it is a totally essay based course, you will have the opportunity to play with artistic techniques now and again. You will also have the opportunity to visit galleries, museums and exhibitions at home and abroad.
There are many career opportunities, which include progression to further study at degree level or to employment in auction houses, museums and galleries.
