A Level Applied ICT

ICT This course is based around practical ICT skills and you will spend a lot of time working on computers.  It can be taken as a single award (1 AS and A level) or a double award (2 AS and A levels).  You will develop a broad range of ICT skills and knowledge of uses of ICT in a vocational context.  You will also practise problem solving and project management skills. 

 

Exam Board / Specification:  EdexcelSingle 8751 / Double 8752

 

Subject entry requirements: 7 GCSEs Grade C or above

 

Exam Units:

 

Single Award – AS/A2

 

Unit 1   The Information Age

Unit 2   The Digital Economy

Unit 3   The Knowledge Worker *

 

Unit 7   Using Database Software *

Unit 8   Managing ICT Projects

Unit 10Using Multimedia Software

 

Double Award – equivalent to two AS and A2 grades

 

This course adds to the single award by enabling you to understand and adapt the hardware and software of a computer.  In addition to the areas above, you will study the following areas:

 

Unit 4               System Design and Installation

Unit 5               Web Development

Unit 6               Technical Support

 

Unit 9               Communications and Networks *

Unit12              Customising Applications

Unit 14             Programming

 

Coursework Details:
